Live Well Lawrence County was established in 2011 as a series of health challenge activities and events meant to improve community nutrition and physical activity. Over time the group evolved to focus more on education and networking. Today, Live Well is a small organization dedicated to improving whole health in Lawrence County, through education, collaboration, and project implementation. Approximately 20-30 people currently attend our two monthly coalition meetings and we have an active mailing list with 255 subscribers. In 2017 we successfully implemented three major projects focused on built environment change: the Bedford Community Garden, the Blue Jacket Trail, and the Mitchell Inclusion Garden. In 2018, we will be starting the year focused on building participation at our monthly Lunch & Learn events and continuing project work related to an obesity prevention grant from the Center for Disease Control.
