In 2017, Live Well Lawrence County partnered with the Southern Indiana Center for Independent Living to create an accessible community space for everyone to grow plants and enjoy the outdoors. The new Inclusion Garden is located in the former Carpenter parking lot off Main Street in Mitchell, IN. With the installation of wheelchair accessible raised beds, a walking path, and tool shed, concrete has been converted in to green space using reclaimed materials. This project provides a destination for youth, adults, and people with disabilities to participate in healthy activities like walking, gardening, and education. Residents who are interested in getting involved can reserve a plot, volunteer, or donate!
